Bears Set To Battle Four Teams In Home Opener Weekend

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears open home play for the 2022 season this weekend as they welcome a quartet of teams to town. The Bears will battle Alabama A&M (11 A.M.) and Young Harris (3 P.M.) on Saturday and Emmanuel College (11 A.M.) and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (3 P.M.) on Sunday.

The Mercer men's team comes into the weekend with a 0-1 record after dropping their season opener at Alabama.

Alabama A&M won their first ever SWAC Championship last year to advance to the NCAA tournament where they lost to #3 Tennessee in the first round.

ABAC is a NJCAA powerhouse, finishing last season ranking fifth in the national rankings. Individually, Gaston Cantero ranked third in the country, Cheng En Tsai was fifth and Luke Stewart was 19^th in men's singles.

Emmanuel College opens spring play this weekend. They Lions went 1-1 in their fall season, picking up their win by a score of 7-0 over Newberry College.

Young Harris College opens their spring season this weekend. The Mountain Lions went 1-0 during their fall season, earning a 5-2 win over Emmanuel College.
