Bears Roll Past Alabama A&M and Young Harris In Home Opener

Bears improve to 2-0 at home this season

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team protected the home court in their home opener. The Bears rolled past the competition in their two matches on the day. With today's wins, Mercer improves to 2-1 on the season.

In their matchup with Alabama A&M, the Bears swept singles play and doubles play to pick up the victory, 7-0.

Against Young Harris College, Mercer won five of six singles matches and swept doubles play to win 6-1.

Lucas Wayenburg went 2-0 in #1 singles, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win over Vence Ntcha of Alabama A&M and a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Rodrigo Mendoza of YHC.

David Georgadze clinched two wins on the day at #2 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Rodrigo Arana Rios of AAMU and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Pieke Bouman of YHC.

Danny Flynn earned two wins in #3 singles for the Bears with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Divesh Gahlot of AAMU and a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Chimo Minguez Ribera of YHC.

Samuel Barrow went 1-1 on the day, picking up his victory over Freddie Lawrence of Alabama A&M 7-5, 6-2.

In #5 singles, Samuel Macleod defeated both Freddie Lawrence of AAMU (6-1, 6-3) and Eric DelValle of YHC (6-2, 6-3).

Alexandr Koliev earned a pair of wins by defeating German Ruiz Crespo of AAMU (3-6, 6-2, 10-8) and Janis Auslands of YHC (6-3, 6-1).

The doubles team of David Georgadze/Lucas Wayenburg, Samuel Barrow/Andrew Branicki, and Danny Flynn/Samuel Macleod all went 2-0 in doubles play.

The Bears will be back in action tomorrow with two more matches. They will take on Emmanuel College at 11 A.M. and ABAC at 3 P.M.
