Mercer defeated by Michigan State, victorious against Jacksonville
Jacksonville, Fl.  – The Mercer Bears split their games with a loss to Michigan State and a win against Jacksonville.

"Our bats finally woke up tonight!", said Head Coach Lindsay Fico. "We not only hit through the order well, we executed the small stuff. Adele Braun stood out…she played great on both sides of the ball. She brings enthusiasm to everything she does. I'm very proud of how we played. Looking to bring the same attitude tomorrow to finish the weekend strong."
Game One: Michigan State 2, Mercer 1
Michigan state would be quick to get on the board in the top of the first inning. A single to left field from Cam Wincher would eventually allow her to score after a double from Macy Lee.Â
Diamond Williams singled in the bottom of the first and Rebeca Laudino singled in the bottom of the fifth. The Bears met the board in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at one. Grace Prom was hit by the pitcher, Alyssa Woods pinch ran. Elisa Rosado grounded out to third base advancing Woods to second. Tori Hedgecock singled to center, advancing Woods home.Â
In the top of the eighth, Jess Mabrey doubled to left field and scored following a single from Wincher. The Bears would be unable to respond.
Game Two: Mercer 12, Jacksonville 1
Hedgecock would be hit by the pitcher to lead off the first inning. Laudino and Hedgecock reached first and second on errors, respectively. Braun walked before Kenlie Harvey was hit by the pitcher, scoring Hedgecock. A single from Annie Potter would advance Laudino home, giving the Bears an early two-point lead to end the first.

The next opportunity for the Bears came in the second inning with four straight hits. Hedgecock and Laudino singled, Kylie Helm doubled allowing Hedgecock and Laudino to score, and Braun homered scoring herself and Helm. Additionally in the inning, Potter doubled with walks from Grace Prom and Tori Ash.
In the top of the third, four bears would record hits with singles from Laudino and Helm, a double from Braun, and a single by Harvey. Laudino and Helm scored extending the Mercer lead to eight.Â
Prom would lead off the fourth inning with a double and would advance to third following a Kendall Owens reach on error to first base. Hedgecock walked and Laudino reached on fielder's choice. Helm homered scoring herself, Laudino, Hedgecock, and Owens, 12-0 Mercer.Â
Ali Bratek would homer for Jacksonville as the lead off in the bottom of the fourth, the only run of the game for Dolphins.Â
The game ended in the bottom of the fifth, run rule, giving the Bears their second win of the season.
