Mercer Wins Second Straight Over Jacksonville
Jacksonville, FL. – The Mercer softball team  defeats the Jacksonville Dolphins for the second time with a 10-3 Sunday afternoon victory.

"I felt like we did a great job of carrying our momentum from last night into today," said Head Coach Fico. "The team played loose and and brought great enthusiasm. Our Offensive production was there as well as key defensive plays throughout the day. We are tracking well and excited for this upcoming weekend at home."

Tori Hedgecock started off the first inning with a walk. Rebeca Laudino's singled up and advanced to second after a Kylie Helm ground ball to the pitcher. Adele Braun followed by a Diamond Williams single, which scored Laudino and Hedgecock. The Bears ended the first inning on top by two.Â

Reynolds homered for the to get the Dolphins on the board, cutting the Bears lead in half.Â
Â
The Bears responded in the top of the second with a walk from Grace Prom as the lead. Hedgecock doubled, Laudino singled advancing Prom home, 3-1.

Reynolds would score again for the Dolphins in the bottom of the third. Reynolds got on base with a single as the lead and scored on a wild pitch.Â

A triple from Williams scored Braun who got on base with a walk. Williams had the opportunity to score on a wild pitch extending the Bears lead to three, 5-2.Â

Chloe Lee scored for the Dolphins in the bottom of the fourth after being hit by the pitcher, stealing second, and scoring on an error by center field.Â

The Bears recorded two additional runs in the top of the sixth.  Helm started off with a single and was followed by one from Braun. A double by Annie Potter scored Braun and Atira Mcgowan who pinch ran for Helm.Â

Four straight hits for the Bears gave them three more runs in the top of seventh. Emily Barras started the single trend followed by Laudino and Helm, which scored Barras. Braun doubled scoring Laudino. A fly out to center by Williams allowed Helm to score, 10-3 Bears.Â
