Mercer recorded losses against Middle Tennessee and Murray State
Macon, Ga.  – The Mercer Bears were unable to finish with a victory at home. In a pair of games against Murray State and Middle Tennessee, the Bears were downed on both days of their Mercer Invitational.Â
Game One: Middle Tennessee 2, Mercer 1
In their first at home game of the season, the Mercer Bears faced the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.Â

The Blue Raiders would be the first on the board in the top of the third. Shelby Sargent tripled to right field as the lead off. Amaya Harris hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Sargent. Middle Tennessee 1, Mercer 0.

A single by Rebeca Laudino would be the first hit from the Bears but would be the only action recorded in the bottom of the third.Â
Â
Diamond Williams singled in the bottom of the fourth but would be the only Bear to touch base until a walk from Tori Hedgecock in the bottom of the fifth. Hedgecock's walk would be her third of the day.Â

The Blue Raiders extended their lead with a homerun from their lead off, Laura Mealer in the top of the sixth.Â

The Bears responded in the bottom of the six with a double by Williams followed by a HP on Annie Potter. Alyssa Woods pinch ran for Williams and was caught stealing but Potter would advance on a throw. Kenlie Harvey singled to advance Potter to third, and Grace Prom what do the same, scoring Potter. Â

The Raiders were unable to extend their lead in the top of the seventh while the Bears were unable to take it.Â

 Game Two: Murray State 8, Mercer 0Â
The Racers found the board in the top of the first starting with a double by Logan Braundmeier.  Gracie Osbron homered, scoring Braundmeier who also advanced to third on the play before.Â

The Racers extended their lead in the top of the second. Their lead-off Taylor Jackson walked and advanced to second on a single by Isabella Wilson. The Bears switched pitchers from Riley Hickok to Katie Rearley. A sacrifice bunt by Chloe Jacque scored Jackson. Braundmeier singled and Wilson scored on a wild pitch. Â

The Bears recorded a hit in the bottom of the second with a single from Williams.

At the top of the fourth, Lily Fisher was hit by the pitcher placing her at first. Jackson homered, scoring Erin Lakey who pinch ran for Fisher. Murray State 6, Mercer 0.Â

A double from Osbron followed by a homer from Lindsey Carroll put the Racers up by eight. Despite singles from Sophie Sumner and Alyssa Woods, the Bears would be unable to score, ending the game in the bottom of the fifth (run rule).Â
Game Three: Murray State 3, Mercer 2Â
In their second game, the Racers would be the first on the board. A single by Jensen Striegel put her on base and a double by Sierra Gilmore led her home.Â

Laudino homered as the lead off, her first of the season. Williams and Adele Braun hit back-to-back singles, but The Bears would enter the second inning tied at one.Â

The Racers extended their lead in the top of the fifth with a single by Jacque followed by a Braundmeier homerun, 3–1.Â

Kenlie Harvey started the bottom of the fifth with a walk and a second base steal. A single by Woods advanced Harvey to third and a sacrifice fly from Hedgecock advanced Woods to third and scored Harvey on the throw.Â
Â
Neither team would record any additional runs.Â

Game Four: Middle Tennessee 5, Mercer 1Â
Singles from Laudino in the first and Potter and the second would be the only recorded hits for the Bears in the first three innings.Â

The Blue Raiders recorded their first runs of the game in the top of the fourth. Mealer walked followed by a Anyce Harvey double, advancing Mealer to third. A sacrifice fly from Kaylee Richetto advanced Harvey to third and scored Mealer. Lani Rodriguez singled, scoring Harvey and giving the Blue Raiders a 2–0 lead in the top of the fourth.

Adele Braun singled in the top of the fourth, but the Bears remained run-less.Â

The Bears made a switch at pitcher replacing Katie Rearley for Riley Hickok. Following the change, Mealer singled to left field, advancing Kelci Hill l to second who reached first on a fielder's choice. Harvey doubled to center field scoring Mealer and Hill, 4-0 Blue Raiders.Â

In the bottom of the fifth, Harvey singled, stole second, and advanced to third on a ground ball to first base from Laudino. A single by Woods scored Harvey, the only run of the inning for the Bears.

For the Blue Raiders, Harris doubled to right field as the lead of the seventh inning. Mealer singled, scoring Harris.Â
Â
Despite a walk for Sophie Sumner and a single from Woods, the Bears would be unable to put up any additional points in the game.
Up Next
The Bears will head to Charleston, S.C. to face Charleston Southern. The Bears will play a double-header on Saturday followed by a single game Sunday.Â
