Bears to Face the Buccaneers

MACON, Ga. – Coming off a weekend at home, the Mercer Softball team travels to Charleston to face Charleston Southern three times. The Bears will play a doubleheader on Saturday with games at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., followed by a final single match on Sunday at noon.

MERCER OUTLOOK
The Bears enter this weekend with an overall record of 3-12. As hosts of the Mercer Bear Invitational, the Bears dropped all their games, two each, against Middle Tennessee and Murray State.

Diamond Williams and Annie Potter are tied for leading in hits with 12 a piece. Rebeca Laudino leads in runs (8) while Kylie Helm leads in RBIs with eight. Adele Braun, Kylie Helm, Laudino, and Williams are the only Bears to record home runs so far this season.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The Buccaneers have dropped four of their last games. Their five wins came against Toledo (11-9), Sacred Heart (5-3), Virginia (5-2), Maine (8-5), and Liberty (3-0).

Lilly Bishop leads the team with a .359 hitting average. Ashley Meckley leads in runs (14) and hits (16). Raleigh Lewis leads in RBIs with 11 total.  Annah Junge leads the pitchers with an ERA of 2.65 and a WHIP of 1.49. Junge holds a win-loss record of 4-4 on the season.

Christi Musser is the 10^th head softball coach of the CSU program. Her reign began in January of 2021.
