Mercer Defeats FAMU
Macon, Ga.  – The Mercer Bears welcomed Florida A&M for a mid-week match up. The Bears defeated the Rattlers, 7-1, ending their six-game losing streak.Â

Alyssa Woods' single to second base would be the first hit of the game. A double from Annie Potter scored Woods. Kylie Helm singled to right field, scoring Potter. The Bears entered the second inning with a two-point lead.

In the bottom of the second, Tori Ash earned a walk. In the bottom of the third, Diamond Williams and Grace Prom singled.Â

The Bears would extend their lead in the bottom of the fourth starting with a walk from Rachel Baker. Potter tripled scoring Baker. Williams singled, scoring potter. Helm also singled in the inning.

A double from Fox started off the top of the fifth inning. A single from Watson scored Fox bringing the game within three. Mercer 4, FAMU 1.Â

The Bears extended their lead in the bottom of the six with a leadoff walk from Laudino. Woods and Williams singled to load the bases. A double from Helm scored Woods and Laudino. Williams scored on a passed ball to extend the Bears lead to six.

The rattlers were unable to respond, ending the game after the top of the seventh.
Up Next
The Bears will continue conference play as they host the Samford Bulldogs Saturday and Sunday. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday.Â
