Mercer To Host Troy University

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team returns home this week after going 3-2 at the Hater Classic in DeLand, F.L. The Bears will host Troy University at Sikes Field on Wednesday before hosting the Mercer Bear Invitational this weekend.

"I am encouraged going into the week at home after our weekend in Deland," said head coach Fico. "We challenged the team after the up-and-down play Friday and Saturday and they responded. We played the most complete ball game to date against Fairfield. I fully expect the team to bring that same excitement and execution into the Troy game."

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
This will be the sixth all-time meeting with Troy University. The Trojans are led by first-year head coach, Eric Newell. Troy sits at 6-3 on the season after a 4-1 weekend at the Troy Invitational. This will be their first road game of the season. Mercer will have to watch out for sophomore Taylor McKinney who put together an impressive weekend batting .615 (8-of-13) with a home run, double, and five RBI.
