MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team finished 2-12 today against the University of Northern Iowa at Sikes Field this afternoon.

How It Happened
Grace Taylor started on the mound as the Panthers got off to an early 2-0 lead. Bears came into the bottom of the first with a lead off bunt and stolen base by Rebeca Laudino. Tori Hedgecock recorded her third homerun of the season to tie UNI 2-2.
Panthers got an RIB double to take the lead 3-2 and the Bears couldn't answer. After a great diving catch from Laudino, the Panthers were able to put two more runs on the board.
Kylie Helm singles and advances on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the third.Hedgecock draws a walk as Panthers made a pitching change and got out of inning leaving two on base.
Madi Wicker started off the fourth strong with two strike outs. UNI's bats heated up and got four runs. Katie Rearley stepped in and was able to get a strikeout to end the inning. Avery Barton gets a two out hit but the Bears bats left her on base to end the fourth down 9 -2. The Panthers picked up three runs on three hits and holds the Bears scoreless to end the game on five inning run rule completion.

The Bears will be on the road this weekend at the Easton Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, AL. Mercer's first game will be against Longwood University at 11:00 a.m.
