Mercer to Host Mercer Bear Classic

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team kicks off its 2023 campaign with the Heart of Georgia Classic at Sikes Field. The tournament will host Florida A&M and Hampton.

"I'm excited to see how we compete this weekend. We have a great group of teams coming in to test us," said Head Coach Lindsay Fico. "Everything will be thrown our way right out of the gate from weather delays to unfamiliar playing conditions. I look forward to seeing how our team handles these challenges."

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Florida A&M
    This will be the 13th meeting between the Bears and the Rattlers. Mercer leads the series 10-2 with Mercer winning the past four meetings. Florida A&M finished their 2022 season with an 18-31 record (12-12 in conference) and made it to the SWAC Championship.

Hampton
   This will be the first-ever game against Hampton for the Bears. The Pirates went 19-36 last season with a 7-20 conference finish. Monique White is in her second season as head coach, after serving as an assistant coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)from 2014-18.
