The Bears Travel to Baltimore to Face UMBC

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse program will travel to Baltimore, Maryland to take on the UMBC on Saturday, March 11 at noon.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's matchup between the Bears and the Retrievers will be the third meeting in program history. The Retrievers currently lead the series 2-0. The last meeting between these two programs was February 25, 2017, when the Bears fell to UMBC in a 6-15 game at UMBC Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
RECENT ACTIONÂ Â
Head Coach Ryan Danehy and the Bears are coming off a 11-6 loss to Richmond on Tuesday, March 7. The Bears moved to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in ASUN play. Freshman Jack Sullivan and freshman Michael Frederick each scored once. Senior defensive midfielder Dean Draughn scored his first goal of his collegiate career. Senior midfielder Khory Reid scored twice, and senior Wesley Chairs would score a three-quarter field goal in the third quarter.

UMBC is led by Ryan Moran, who is entering his seventh season as head coach for the Retrievers. The Retrievers are currently 4-1 and were selected to finish second in the American East Conference. The Retrievers three wins have come from Drexel, Mount Saint Mary's, St. Bonaventure, and Towson University.
UMBC return 33 players from last season and welcome 11 new freshmen. UMBC current leading point scorer is junior attackman Mateo Brown with 16 points (15 goals, 1 assist). Behind Brown with 13 points (7 goals, 6 assists) is junior attackman Allen Hockenberry.
