
Bears Fall to Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Mercer men's tennis program (7-10, 1-0) faced a setback against Alabama State (4-11, 3-0) after the Hornets stormed back from 3-1 down to win 4-3.

The Bears won the doubles point to take the first lead of the match. Andrew Branicki and Samuel Barrow defeated David Jeanne Grandinot and Juan Rodriguez on court two, 6-2. Nemanja Stefanovic and Marceau Foulihoux teamed up for their fourth doubles win together, beating Matias Amier and Alexandre Verlaguet, 6-4, to clinch the point for Mercer.
After Alabama State tied the match at 1-1, Foulihoux earned his 12th singles win of the season over Amier 6-3, 6-4 on court four to retake the lead for the Bears. On court three, Nemanja Stefanovic won the third point for Mercer with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Samrakshyak Bajracharya.
The Hornets tied the match with a three-set win on court six and a 7-6, 7-6 win on court two. The clinching point was claimed in a three-set match on court five.
