Bears Head to Florida

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team will be on the road this weekend for the University of Florida Tournament in Gainesville, FL.

"This weekend at UF will probably be our toughest test this season because we are set to play three very talented opponents, two being in the top 25," said head coach Fico. "I want our team to continue to focus on the things we can control and take advantage of every opportunity given to get better. As long as we stay mindful of that, the weekend will be a success and will serve its purpose as we move closer to conference play."

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Rutgers University
    The Rutgers are 16-4 on the season. They are coming off a 4-1 record weekend at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic. Mercer leads the series 5-0 with the last meeting being in 2016. Rutgers have been a powerhouse offensively this year and leads the Big Ten in batting average (.326), runs (132), triples (8), RBIs (121), on-base percentage (.404), and stolen bases (44).

No. 10 University of Florida
    The University of Flordia Gators are 15-3 on the season and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Florida leads the series 10-0 with the first meeting being in 2008. The Bears will have to look out for pitcher Lexie Delbrey who picked up another complete-game shutout performance this past weekend.

University of Louisiana
    The Rajun Cajuns sit 14-8 this season after a 6-2 victory over McNeese yesterday. Mercer will have to look out for Mihyian Davis in the box. Davis leads the team in HIT% (.486) and has recorded 17 hits this season.
