Mercer Opens Road Trip with Win at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Mercer men's tennis program (9-11, 3-1) earned its third conference win of the season against The Citadel (9-19, 2-4), 5-2, on Monday afternoon.

All three doubles pairs won, including a pair of 7-6 victories. Mariano Argote and Samuel MacLeod earned their first SoCon doubles win on court one, 6-3, over Hayden Shoemake and Sebastian Kamieniecki. Andrew Branicki and Samuel Barrow won 7-6 on court two to clinch the doubles point. Nemanja Stefanovic and Marceau Foulihoux took the edge 7-6 on court three for their fourth win in the last five matches.

Barrow won the first singles point for the Bears 6-1, 6-4 on court six over Noah Van Dyke. Stefanovic swept the first set against Lucas Robins on court three en route to a 6-0, 6-4 victory. MacLeod earned the match-clinching point for Mercer after beating Ted Bagwell 6-3, 6-3. Lucas Dini claimed the final point for the Bears, winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on court two over Zvonko Bencedic.
