
Men’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day Against Samford

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis program will celebrate Andrew Branicki on Senior Day before the team's match against Samford on Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m. at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Branicki finishes his Mercer career after playing an increased role his senior year. He posted a three-match winning streak in singles at the end of January going into the beginning of February. Along with partner Samuel Barrow, Branicki recorded a three-match winning streak in doubles in March, including a crucial win over ETSU. Branicki also earned a vital singles win over the Buccaneers to give Mercer a huge conference victory. During his junior year, Branicki logged six doubles wins primarily with Barrow after recording four doubles wins with Samuel MacLeod during his sophomore year.

RECENT ACTION
The Bears had a busy week, playing three matches in four days all on the road. Mercer opened the week with a 5-2 win over The Citadel. On Tuesday, the Bears earned a 4-3 win against Wofford after a lengthy match. Most recently, Mercer fell in a heartbreaking match to Furman, 4-3, after nearly completing a comeback from 3-0 down.

Marceau Foulihoux and Nemanja Stefanovic both went 5-1 on the week, winning all three doubles matches together. Foulihoux clinched the match against Wofford in dramatic fashion. Samuel MacLeod won all three of his singles matches and clinched the match against The Citadel.

SCOUTING SAMFORD
Mercer and Samford have logged similar results throughout the season. The two teams both recorded losses to Alabama and Kennesaw State while beating Alabama State and Alabama A&M. In conference play, the Bears earned a huge win over ETSU while Samford notched its only conference loss to the Buccaneers. Samford's last match was a 6-1 win over Chattanooga on Saturday.

Three players have won double-figure singles matches for Samford. Maxwell Giddens is 11-6 overall, primarily on court two. Darcy Nicholls is a perfect 6-0 in conference play with a 10-7 overall record, mostly on court five. Sandeep Mohandoss has a 10-6 record with all 10 wins coming on court three.

The Bulldogs have started seven different doubles pairs in conference play, but Giddens and Mohandoss clearly lead the way with a 10-3 overall record and 5-1 conference record, all on court one.

Samford has had four Player of the Week honors this season, winning the award three-straight weeks. Mohammed Ali Bellalouna, Mohandoss, and Giddens won on weeks 3-5, and Mohandoss repeated as the most recent award winner on April 11.
