
Bears Fall to Eagles in First Home Match of the Season

MACON – The Bears played their first home match of the season in front of a record crowd that filled Hawkins Arena with energy. After opening the match with the first score and leading the entire first set, the Bears began to slide as the match continued.
Head Coach Chad Sutton expressed his appreciation for the fans and the support during his first home match as Mercer's head coach.Â

Two kills by Lillian Beardsley, a kill by Kylee Quigley, and a block by Quigley and Skyler Bumpers held the Eagles near and at set point through five serves, but the Eagles took the set on a kill after calling a timeout. |
| SET 3 I 15-25 | While Mercer tied the game four times and gained energy from an ace by Skyler Bumpers and multiple kills from Aliyah Waldon and Mykole Morgan, the Georgia Southern kept the lead throughout the set. |
| SET 4 I 13-25 | Set four was a short set, but it contained seven ties and two lead changes. One the Eagles took the lead 10-9, it was a dominant finish for Georgia Southern. |
