MACON –The Mercer Bears defeated Jacksonville University 2-1 in their home opener on Tuesday night at Betts Stadium in Macon, Georgia.

Mercer moves to 3-1-0 on the season, while the Jacksonville University moves to 0-4-0 on the season. Junior forward Kadeem Agard would start the scoring off for the Bears in the 37th minute. Agard would win a header and place it bottom left corner of the goal off a ball played from Nat McDonald. The Dolphins would answer in the 70th minute, tying the game 1-1 with 20 minutes left. Mercer would find the back of the net one last time in the 83rd minute. Barzee Blama would score his third goal of the season off the assist from graduate midfielder Dylan Gaither.

Up next, the Bears will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to play the University of Wisconsin on Friday, September 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
