SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Tobias Jonsson carded an even-par 71 to settle into a share of 44^th place on the individual leaderboard and lead the Mercer men's golf team to a 15^th-place standing after opening-day action at the stacked Mirabel Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

The Bears posted a combined 292 (+8) in Friday's action at The Mirabel Club in south central Arizona, but sixth-ranked Auburn (-24) exploded for a team score of 260 and lead the rest of the 15-team field by three strokes heading into the weekend. Auburn is one of four teams at The Mirabel Club that boast a national ranking, or appear in the "Others Receiving Votes" section.

Trey Mixon turned in a 1-over-par 72 and sits in a tie for 53^rd place after the first round, while Connor Holcroft tallied a 73 to claim a share of 58^th place. Jonathan Parker (76) and Jay Spivey (78) are among a tie for 70^th and 74^th place, respectively.

The Bears are scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. MDT on Saturday.
