
Mercer Drops First Game Of Season At Depaul

Alex Holt and Ahmad Robinson led Mercer in scoring with 12 points each
CHICAGO, Ill. – Alex Holt and Ahmad Robinson led the Bears in scoring with 12 points each, but Mercer couldn't overcome a hot shooting DePaul team as the Blue Demons handed the Bears their first loss of the season, 95-64 Monday night from Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Mercer (1-1) shot 39 percent from the field to DePaul's 55 percent. The Blue Demons shot it well from deep in the first half, going 7-for-15 (47%) and the Bears turned the ball over too many times to get back in the game.
Mercer had 11 steals with four different players getting two steals on the night. Angel Montas Jr. was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds.

| DePaul made three of its first four three-point attempts and jumped out to an early 12-4 lead three minutes into the game. Minutes later a jumper from Tyler Johnson made it a 14-9 game. Then, DePaul went on a 10-2 scoring run to take a 24-11 lead. The Bears were unable to consistently knock down shots in the final seven minutes of the game and the Blue Demons took advantage by taking a 51-24 lead into halftime. |
| 2ND HALF |
| The Bears played a better second half and a jumper from Alex Holt made it 54-30 just minutes into the second half. Laurynas Vaistaras, Marcus Overstreet and TJ Grant got things going for the Bears midway through the second half as the Bears went on a 10-2 run with the trio combining to score all 10 points. Mercer shot 14-for-34 (41.4%) from the field in the second half, but DePaul continued to make shots as they were 54.5 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes and outscored Mercer 44-42 in the second half. |
