
Mercer Wins Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational; Dubnik Individual Champion

Bears won tournament by 26 strokes over runner-up Western Kentucky
GREENSBORO, Ga. - The Mercer women's golf team had its best round of the season Sunday, shooting an 8-under 280 as the Bears rolled to a Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational Championship from Great Waters Golf Course in Greensboro, Georgia.
Mercer finished the tournament 1-under par, 863, finishing 26 strokes ahead of runner-up Western Kentucky who finished 25-over 889. Mercer's round of 280 was the best team score for the Bears since carding a 276 in the fall season of 2021 at the Johnie Imes Invitational at Missouri.
Mikayla Dubnik won the individual championship as she finished the tournament at 4-under, 212. It marks Dubnik's second career championship.
After an even par round of 72 to start the tournament, Dubnik carded back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70. Dubnik tied for the best score on par 3s and 4s in the 81-player field as she was 1-under on each. Dubnik's 10 birdies were tied for the most in the field as well.
Camilla Järvelä finished right behind Dubnik as runner-up with a tournament score of 2-under 214. Like Dubnik, Järvelä didn't have a single round over par. She finished with rounds of 72, 71, and 71. Järvelä and Dubnik finished first and second in pars as Järvelä had 39 and Dubnik 38.Â
Five of Mercer's six golfers had final rounds under par on Sunday. In addition to Dubnik and Järvelä, Ella Mäki-Tanila, Eujin Pyon, and Tracy Rodriguez all had rounds under par.
Mäki-Tanila had a great finish to her tournament as she carded a final round 4-under 68. It was tied for the best round for any golfer throughout the tournament. The strong finish for Mäki-Tanila moved her up 17 spots on the leaderboard on Sunday as she finished in eighth place. Pyon and Rodriguez each had rounds of 1-under 71 on Sunday.
Mercer led the 14-team field in pars with 178 and tied with fellow SoCon member Chattanooga for the most birdies in the field with 39. The Bears also led the field in par 4s and 5s. Mercer was especially better than the field on par 4s as the Bears finished with an incredible 18 less shots than Western Kentucky who was the second best team in the field on par 4s.
