MACON – The Mercer softball team will open up a six-game road trip on Tuesday when the Bears pack up their show and head to Clinton, S.C., to tangle with Presbyterian in an afternoon doubleheader at the Blue Hose Softball Complex. First pitch of the twin bill is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Fans unable to make the trip to western South Carolina can still follow the games for free via live statistics links provided by the PC athletica department.
Â
No stranger to the road, the Bears (12-16) will play their 16th and 17th games away from home on Tuesday, but are fresh from a 3-1 home stand, including a weekend series win over Southern Conference rival Wofford on Saturday and Sunday at Sikes Field. The Orange & Black won each of the first two games of that series, and clinched the weekend with a come-from-behind 4-3 win in the opening game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Â
Junior Emma Dorval has registered a team-best .364 batting average in 26 starts this season, but reigning SoCon Player of the Week Alyssa Woods is coming off a torrid week at the plate that watched her hit .615 across four starts, while also compiling a .706 on-base percentage. Junior Tori Hedgecock is tied for fifth, nationally, with 13 home runs, while also ranking second among SoCon leaders with 34 RBI.

SERIES HISTORY |
Mercer is 6-3 all-time in the series with Presbyterian, including a 2-0 mark in Clinton, S.C. Tuesday's contests will mark the first meeting between the two squads since 2021, and the first matchups between the Bears and Blue Hose in Clinton since May 8, 2011. |
SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE |
The Blue Hose (10-20) have dropped three of their last four outings heading into Tuesday's double dip, including both ends of a road doubleheader with Furman on Wednesday. Presbyterian has split 16 home games so far this season, but managed to capture a series with Big South Conference rival Winthrop in their last action at the Blue Hose Softball Complex on March 16 and 17. Â Presbyterian will bring one of the nation's best defensive teams into Tuesday's outings, having committed just 23 errors in 30 contests while registering an impressive .971 fielding percentage. Offensively, PC tacks up 3.5 runs per game on the strength of a .257 team batting average. Freshman pitcher/infielder Kasey Wolfe leads the Blue Hose with a .298 batting average that complements three doubles and 15 RBI, while junior utility player Kendall Owens has gotten a bulk of the run-producing action this season as evidenced by a team-high 20 RBI. Â In the circle, Presbyterian's success has come from the hands of senior Jenna Greene on a majority of occasions. Greene is 5-6 with a 2.31 earned run average, and has struck out 83 batters in a team-high 84-2/3 innings pitched. |
UP NEXT FOR THE BEARS |
Mercer will continue its six-game road trip this weekend when it heads to Cullowhee, N.C., for a key Southern Conference series at Western Carolina (7-15, 0-3 SoCon). |
