Big Fourth Inning Leads Florida A&M Past Bears

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M sent 10 batters to the plate to fuel a 5-run fourth inning as the Rattlers swung the momentum on an early-inning hitting drought to turn back visiting Mercer, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the University Softball Complex.

The setback marked the fourth-straight loss for the Bears (8-9) who stranded eight on the base paths, including five in scoring position. It was the third win in the last four outings for the Rattlers (4-13) who have now captured three-straight games in the series with the Orange & Black.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 4	The first five batters all reached base safely for Florida A&M as the hosts used a 2-run single from Brianna Duggins and a run-scoring infield single by Kayla Alexandre to grab a 3-1 advantage. MU starter Grace Taylor struck out the next two batters and appeared to have limited the damage, but FAMU struck again in the frame with a 2-run single to stretch the advantage out to 5-1.

The Bears will hit the road again this weekend when they travel to Clemson, S.C., for the Tigers Invitational. MU is scheduled for two games on Friday - an afternoon contest against Fordham and a twilight outing against 10th-ranked Clemson - as well as Saturday outings with Minnesota and Longwood.
