
Väistö Finishes In Top 15 At Golfweek Red Sky Classic

Bears finish in 9th place in 16 team field
WOLCOTT, Co. - Freshman Emilia Väistö finished tied for 14th at 1-under par, 215 for the tournament at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from Red Sky Ranch Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado.
As a team, Mercer finished in ninth place in the 16 team field with a team score of 16-over, 880. Kansas won the tournament at 15-under, 849, seven strokes ahead of runners-up Boise State and Pepperdine who finished at 7-under par.
The Bears improved each round as they carded a final round on Wednesday of 1-over, 289 which was the sixth lowest round of the day. Mercer was one of the best teams on par 3's during the tournament with the second best score to par on them at 3-over.
Väistö had rounds of 70, 72, and 73 to finish at 1-under par, 215. It's her second consecutive top 15 finish after finishing tied for 13th last week at the Cardinal Cup. Savannah de Bock of Eastern Michigan won the tournament that featured 86 golfers at 12-under par, 204.
Mikayla Dubnik and Katie Scheck had the lowest rounds of the day on Wednesday for Mercer as Dubnik carded a 71 (-1) and Scheck a 72 (E). Ella Mäki-Tanila had 38 pars over her 54-holes which was tied for the second most pars in the field.
