SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 25th all-time meeting between Mercer and The Citadel. Mercer leads the all-time series, 19-5. The two teams split their regular season meetings last year before the Bears defeated the Bulldogs in the first round of the SoCon Tournament in Asheville, North Carolina.
LAST TIME OUT
Ahmad Robinson scored a game high 24 points, but Mercer ended up on the short end of a 79-74 game against Furman Saturday evening inside Hawkins Arena.
Trailing 77-74 with 15 seconds to play, Mercer (10-11, 3-5)Â had two good looks at a potential game-tying three-pointer but neither shot found its way in the basket as Furman (16-5, 4-4) held on for the win.
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer had a season low six turnovers in its last game against Furman.
SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Citadel enters Wednesday's game with an 5-14 record, including a 0-8 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs nearly won their first conference game of the season over the weekend as they suffered an 80-78 overtime loss at home to Western Carolina.
The Citadel has had a tough time offensively this season as they rank second to last in the SoCon in scoring offense at 69.5 points per game. The Bulldogs haven't scored more than 70 points in regulation in any of their seven conference games that ended in regulation.
The Citadel doesn't attempt many threes in comparison to other SoCon teams as the Bulldogs attempt just 24.0 three-pointers per game in conference play, second fewest in the league.
Senior transfer Brody Fox leads The Citadel in scoring and ranks fourth in the SoCon at 16.6 points per game. He is shooting it well from the floor too at 51.1 percent and is one of just four SoCon players averaging at least 6 made field goals per game.
