SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 42nd all-time meeting between Mercer and ETSU. ETSU leads the all-time series, 28-13 and won both meetings between the teams last season.
LAST TIME OUT
Jah Nze scored a career high 25 points to lead the Mercer Bears to a 70-67 win on the road over VMI Saturday evening from Cameron Hall in Lexington, Virginia.
With the win, the Bears improve to 2-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2014-15 season. It was also the 200th career win for head coach Ryan Ridder.
NEED TO KNOW
Wednesday's game features four of the top seven scorers in the SoCon in ETSU's Quimari Peterson (18.2 ppg) and Jaden Seymour (16.5 ppg) and Mercer's Ahmad Robinson (16.3 ppg) and Chip Johnson (16.2 ppg).
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU enters Wednesday's game with an 8-7 record, including an 1-1 mark in conference play. The Bucs are coming off an 81-78 loss at home to Wofford last Saturday.
The Bucs have been much better at home than on the roadÂ
this season as they are 7-2 at home and just 1-5 away from Johnson City. ETSUÂ has two common Division I opponents with the Bears this season in Queens who the Bucs defeated, 82-67 and Jacksonville who the Bucs lost to 60-52.
ETSU is averaging 75.8 points per game which ranks sixth in the SoCon while allowing just 68.4 points per game which ranks third in the conference. ETSU does a great job of contesting shots as they rank second in the SoCon with 3.7 blocked shots per game.
Senior guard Quimari Peterson leads the SoCon in scoring at 18.2 ppg. He has gone for 20 or more points four times this season, including a 30-point performance against Kansas City.Â
