Bears Close Out Fall Schedule In Palmetto State

MACON – The Mercer men's tennis team will put the finishing touches on the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule this weekend when the Bears pack up their show and head to Greenville, S.C., for the Wofford College Clash.

Six Bears will be spread across four main singles and two doubles draws at the annual 3-day event. The tournament will kick off on Friday at 10 a.m., with singles competition expected to commence at approximately 11 a.m.

Sophomore Shingo Masuda will lead the Orange & Black into singles action this weekend after amassing a 5-1 clip through two previous fall outings. Masuda downed a trio of opponents at the Mercer Gridiron Classic, but had his championship run stopped in the finals of that event thanks to inclement weather.

Newcomer Alex Aldaz and senior Amen Prince Gandonou will carry the torch into this weekend's doubles competition with a 5-2 record, including a current 3-match winning skein in tandem action. Aldaz/Gandonou tallied a perfect 3-0 run through its draw at the Mercer Gridiron Classic, including a 6-2 victory over Presbyterian's Dario Navarro/Daksh Prasad in the title bout.
