Mercer (5-7-4, 3-0-1 SoCon) is unbeaten in five of its last seven matches, including a draw with then ranked No. 7 Furman and two thrilling Southern Conference victories over Wofford and East Tennessee State. Most recently, the Bears are coming off a 2-0 win over VMI in the third annual Baba Agbaje Memorial Game.
Junior Casillas leads Mercer's attack with six goals, four assists, 16 points, nine shots on goal and two game-winning goals. The graduate senior has been nothing short of sensational in his first season in Macon. Casillas has appeared in 15 of the Bears' 16 matches, logging 820 minutes and notching 13 starts in the orange and black.
Henry Hampshaw has cemented himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the SoCon this season. His 1.45 goals against average and 54 saves against Division I opponents are the third-best marks in the conference respectively. The sophomore transfer has started between the posts in each of Mercer's 16 contests and has commanded his backline en route to maintaining three clean sheets.
Despite missing the first half of the season, Fernando Arteaga has made a tremendous impact on the year since stepping on the pitch. The senior midfielder has three goals and three assists across his seven starts this season. This past Saturday, Arteaga opened the scoring straight off a corner kick in the Bears' win over VMI.
