LAST TIME OUT
Tyler Johnson led led Mercer with 19 points, but Mercer came up short in the end at home to VMI, 80-71 last Saturday from Hawkins Arena.
Mercer outshot VMI from the floor as the Bears made 27-of-60 (45.0%) shots, compared to the Keydets who went 22-for-54 (40.7%) from the field. However, VMI shot the ball better from deep going 11-for-32 (34.4%) while the Bears struggled to knock down shots behind the arc going 3-for-24 (12.5%).
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer had a season high eight blocks in the first meeting against The Citadel. Alex Holt and Marcus Overstreet led the Bears with three blocks each.
SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Citadel enters Wednesday's game still looking for its first conference win of the season. The Bulldogs nearly earned their first conference win in their last two games, falling to Wofford in overtime and losing 76-73 against Western Carolina most recently last Saturday.
All five of The Citadel's wins this season have come at home. The Bulldogs are however just 5-10 at home.
The Citadel has struggled on both ends of the floor this season, but especially offensively where they rank last in the SoCon in scoring at just 68.0 points per game. They are shooting 42.8 percent from the floor which is eighth in the conference.
The Citadel's leading scorer is Brody Fox who ranks fourth in the SoCon with 16.4 points per game. He is the only Bulldog averaging at least 10 points per game.
