MACON – Visiting Georgia State pounded out 13 hits and scored seven times to build a 7-0 lead after five innings of play, then held off a late-inning rally by Mercer on the way to a 7-5 victory over the Bears on Wednesday evening at Sikes Field.

It was the second-straight loss for the Bears (5-4) who will continue a 6-game home stand when it faces Alabama State in the opening game of the MUSB Invitational which will run through Sunday at Sikes Field. Wednesday's decision was the second-straight win for Georgia State (3-9) who also snapped a two-game slide in the series with the Orange & Black.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 4	Georgia State used five hits and a costly error to plate four runs and push its lead out to 5-0. Gabby Tillis got the scoring started with a leadoff homer, but the Panthers also got RBI singles from Maia Mumpfield and Bella Morton.
TOP 5	The Panthers tacked up two more runs in the fifth to stake claim to a 7-0 lead. Chloe Hatcher registered a pinch-hit single, and GSU used an error on the play to bring the first runner home. Bella Morton's 2-out RBI single two batters later capped the scoring in the frame.
