MACON – Newcomer Sietske Drijvers highlighted a 5-run fifth inning with a 247-foot homer over the scoreboard in left field as the Bears stayed perfect in the MUSB Invitational with an 8-1 victory over Middle Tennessee State on Friday evening at Sikes Field.

The Bears (7-4) improved to 6-3 in tournament play this season with the result, while also snapping a three-game skid in the 32-year old series with the Blue Raiders. It was the sixth-straight loss for Middle Tennessee State (3-8) who dropped its first game in Macon since the 2010 campaign.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1	Hallie Langford led off the contest for the Bears with a single through the left side, and moved into scoring position third base thanks to a sacrifice bunt from Emma Dorval. A RBI single from Grace Jones two pitches later gave the hosts the early lead.
BOT 3	Hallie Langford doubled to lead off the third for the hosts, and Mercer took the lead for good three batters later on Sietske Drijvers' RBI single to the shortstop. A sac fly off of the bat of KiKi Daniels later in the frame made is a 3-1 affair.

UP NEXT
The Bears will continue play in the MUSB Invitational on Saturday when they take on Jacksonville (3-8) in a 12:30 p.m. contest at Sikes Field. Admission prices are $10 for one-day admission and $15 for the last two days of the event. Children aged 12 years and younger, as well as Mercer students that present a valid Bears Card, will be admitted free.
