MACON – Mercer put together a furious 5^th-inning rally in an attempt knot the game up before a predetermined time limit, but fell just short in its cause in a 2-1 loss to UConn in the final game of the 2025 MUSB Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Sikes Field.

The game was called as official minutes after a 1:45 p.m. deadline for the game to be concluded due to predetermined travel plans for the Huskies (8-5). The Bears (7-6) split four games at their second of two scheduled February tournaments, rattling off wins against both Alabama State and Middle Tennessee State before falling to Jacksonville on Saturday.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 1	Lexi Hastings legged out an infield single to start the afternoon, moved to second on a stolen base and scored moments later on a throwing error by the Bears.
TOP 2	Kaitlyn Kibling drew a full-count bean ball to start the third, stole second two batters later and eventually scored on Rosie Garcia's 2-out double to the gap in left field.

The Bears will close out a six-game home stand on Wednesday when they suit up to take on instate rival Georgia Southern (8-5) in a 6 p.m. tilt at Sikes Field. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m. and admission is free.
