SENIOR DAY
The Bears will recognize five seniors during its Senior Day ceremony. The players who will be recognized are: Cam Bryant, Alex Holt, Tyler Johnson, Ahmad Robinson, and Laurynas Vaistaras.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 31st all-time meeting between Mercer and Western Carolina. Western Carolina leads the all-time series, 17-13. The Catamounts have won the last five meetings including an 85-82 win over the Bears on Jan. 12.
LAST TIME OUT
Mercer missed a potential game-winning shot in the final seconds, as ETSU held on to defeat the Bears, 59-58 Wednesday night from Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Tyler Johnson led all scorers with 19 points in what was a low-scoring defensive battle most of the night. The Bears held the Southern Conference's leading scorer, Quimari Peterson to just 15 points on 5-of-18 (27.7%) shooting on the night. As a team, the Bucs were just 22-for-60 (36.7%) from the field compared to Mercer who went 22-for-57 (38.6%) from the field.
NEED TO KNOW
Mercer is coming off one of its best defensive performances of the season in its 59-58 loss Wednesday at ETSU. ETSU's 59 points were its fewest scored in a conference game this season.
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA
Western Carolina enters Saturday's game with an 8-20 record, including a 4-13 mark in conference play. The Catamounts have struggled on the road as they have just one win away from home this year with a record of 1-13.
Western Carolina has lost three straight games, and is coming off a 90-67 loss at home to Wofford on Wednesday.
The Catamounts have struggled on both ends of the floor all year as they rank second to last in the SoCon in scoring offense at 69.8 points per game and last in scoring defense at 79.4 points per game.
Bernard Pelote leads the Catamounts in scoring at 14.2 points per game, however Marcus Kell has recently won back-to-back SoCon Player of the Week recognitions as he is averaging 21.4 points per game over his last seven games.
