Bears Pick Up Win, Loss On Day 2 Of Dugout Club Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mercer plated a trio of runs on ill-timed mistakes by Florida Gulf Coast on the way to a 3-1 victory over the Eagles in Saturday's opener, but fell victim to 8^th-ranked Florida State's ultra-hot bats in a 19-1 setback in a late-afternoon matchup, to split action on Day 2 at the FSU-hosted Dugout Club Classic.

The Bears (10-8) evened its record to 2-2 at the 3-day event in the Florida panhandle with the split. It was the sixth loss in the last seven outings for the Eagles who tasted victory earlier in the day via a walk-off homer against College of Charleston. The Seminoles (16-3), whose three losses this season have all come to Top 10-ranked teams, finished off their action in the tournament with a perfect 5-0 clip with all five victories coming via run-rule.

KEY INNINGS (VS. FLORIDA GULF COAST)
TOP 1	Hallie Langford reached via hit by pitch, and then moved all the way to third base via a stolen base and an ensuing groundout. A wild pitch amid the following at-bat would bring her scurrying across home plate.
TOP 3	Hallie Langford doubled to the gap in left field to open the frame, and scored a few pitches later on a passed ball that careened along the backstop long enough to give her enough time to cross home plate.

KEY INNINGS (VS. FLORIDA STATE)
TOP 1	Hallie Langford reached on a fielding error by FSU starter Makenna Reid and moved into scoring position with the ensuing at-bat via a perfectly-placed sac bunt from Sydney Harris. Tori Hedgecock drilled a single into left field three pitches later to give the Bears the early lead.
BOT 1	Florida State sent 16 batters to the plate in the home half of the frame, and used eight hits, three walks and an error to scratch the scoreboard for a dozen runs
