
East Tennessee State Tops Mercer In Series Finale

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State combined for nine hits in its final three at-bats and put together a 3-run sixth inning to salvage its series against visiting Mercer with a 5-2 win over the Bears in Sunday's series finale at Betty Basler Field.

The setback snapped a three-game win streak for the Bears (22-22, 3-8 SoCon) who held a pair of leads in Sunday's series finale, including a 2-1 advantage in the top of the fifth. The Bucs (14-29, 3-9), who dropped both halves of Saturday's series opening doubleheader in Johnson City, Tenn., used Sunday's decision to halt an eight-game losing streak.
