MACON – Hallie Langford hit a go-ahead triple with two outs in the fifth inning to help support a complete-game effort from Katheryn Rearley as Mercer snapped an 11-year drought in its series with Kennesaw State with a 3-1 victory over the Owls on Wednesday evening at Sikes Field.

The Bears (20-21) put the kibosh on a three-game winning streak with the triumph, while also registering their first win over the Owls since a 5-4 nailbiter in the opening round of the 2014 Atlantic Sun Tournament. It was the 16^th loss in the last 18 outings for Kennesaw State (10-30) who fell to 0-18 away from home this season with the setback as well.

Rearley (3-2) went the distance for the second time this season and scattered six hits to notch her first win since a 3-1 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on March 1.

MU moved to 7-1 this season against Georgia-based teams with Wednesday's win as well.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 2	Sietske Drijvers led off the home half of the second with a bunt single, grabbed two more bags on an ensuing sacrifice bunt off of the bat of Laura Vigna, and gave the Bears an early lead on an ill-timed wild pitch by the Owls.
TOP 5	Kennesaw State used its short game to knot the score back up in the fifth, getting Ana Gore into scoring position on a leadoff single down the right field line and a successive sacrifice bunt to set the table for a 1-out RBI single off of the bat of Ty Hardeman.
BOT 5	Megan Loughren drew a leadoff walk and KiKi Daniels logged a 1-out free pass to put a pair of Bears aboard, and both moved into scoring position moments later on a costly wild pitch. Hallie Langford delivered the goods two pitches later on a 2-run triple into the gap in right field.

The Bears will step back into Southern Conference play this weekend when they open up a four-game road trip at East Tennessee State (13-27, 2-7 SoCon). The squads will open up their three-game set with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, and close out the set with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
