Robards Posts Career Round As Bears Improve To Fourth

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – After a round full of red numbers for the Bears, the Mercer men's golf team moved up a spot in the leaderboard and sits in fourth place after 36 holes at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.
"We had a solid round as a team, and there were some great individual performances from [Henry] Robards, [Cole] Hanson and [Phillips] Swift," said head coach Jason Payne. "The late bogeys dropped us back from the lead. It will take a complete effort from the team to make up that ground tomorrow."
Henry Robards turned in one of the best scorecards of the day, and his career, in the second round at Miramar Beach. The sophomore posted a bogey-free 66 with five birdies to propel himself into the top 15 individually. Robards tied his career-low that he shot in the 2024 Fripp Island Intercollegiate as a true freshman.
Cole Hanson continues to cement himself as one of the core members of Mercer's lineup as the graduate senior shot a two-under 69 and sits tied for sixth. Phillips Swift is fighting for tenth place after two days of competition due to his second consecutive round of two-under.
Connor Holcroft came off the tee box on fire. The redshirt junior is competing as an individual and began his round with four birdies in the first eight holes.
The Bears posted 20 birdies as a unit, not counting Holcroft's four, which was the fourth most out of 13 teams in the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.
