Bears Drop To Seventh In Day Two Of Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Despite solid rounds from Cole Hanson and Connor Holcroft, the Mercer men's golf team fell to seventh place after the second round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Club.
"There were too many blemishes on the scorecard that kept us from having a great second day," said head coach Jason Payne. "We had a great start early in the round that we are looking to replicate and build on in the final round tomorrow."
Hanson has been consistent to begin the fall season. The graduate senior posted another two-under 70 in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Holcroft came out the gate and off the tee box on fire. The redshirt junior birdied three of the first four holes before cooling off ahead of the turn. The Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, native had a bogeyless back nine with a birdie on 13 to match Hanson with a 70.
The Bears are back in action for the third and final round of the 2025 Golfweek Fall Challenge on Tuesday, September 9.Â
