Brady Shoulders made big shots downs the stretch and scored all 14 of his points in the second half to help Mercer earn a hard-fought 69-64 win over Furman Wednesday night from Hawkins Arena.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 28th all-time meeting between Mercer and The Citadel. Mercer leads the all-time series 22-5. The Bears won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season in Macon, 101-63.
NEED TO KNOW
In Mercer's win over Furman on Wednesday, the Bears outrebounded the Paladins, 44-37. Mercer is 14-2 this season when it outrebounds its opponent.
SCOUTING THE CITADEL
The Citadel enters Saturday's game with a 9-17 overall record and 6-7 record in conference play. The Bulldgos are currently in seventh place in the standings but are just one game back of fourth place.
Saturday's game will be the second meeting of the season between Mercer and The Citadel. The Bears won convincingly in the game in Macon back on Jan. 7, 101-63.
The Citadel is coming off a three-game road swing where the Bulldogs went 1-2. The win came against Chattanooga.The Citadel is 7-5 at home this season. In conference play, The Citadel ranks ninth in the SoCon in scoring at 69.2 points per game. Defensively, the Bulldogs are allowing 77.0 points per game which is fifth best in the conference.
The Citadel's leading scorer is forward Braxton Williams who is averaging 13.0 points per game. Forward Christian Moore is the only other Bulldog averaging double figures in scoring at 11.2 points per game.
