Red-Hot Second Round Pushes Bears Into Second

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Mercer men's golf team began their spring season by lighting up the scorecard in the opening rounds of the Wexford Intercollegiate.

Cole Hanson headlined the Bears' performances with a three-under 69 in the second round of today's competition. Hanson made the turn sitting one-over on the round before dropping four birdies in the final seven holes to jump into the top five.

Mercer ended the opening round of the Wexford Intercollegiate tied for fourth place with two players sitting in the top 15 individually before filling its scorecard with red in the second.

The Bears scored 18 birdies as a team in the second round and currently has the second-most (30) of the field. Mercer currently leads the competition in scoring average on all Par 5s and with total eagles.

Round three takes place tomorrow, February 17, with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. You can follow along with live scoring here.
