GREENSBORO, N.C. – Southern Conference-leading UNC Greensboro pounded out 17 hits and scored 16 times across 11 innings of work while holding visiting Mercer to a combined three hits on the way to registering a pair of abbreviated wins on Saturday afternoon at the UNCG Softball Stadium.

The Spartans (33-15, 12-2 SoCon) scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to finish off an 8-0 victory in the series opener with Mercer (17-25, 5-9), and then erupted for six scores in the bottom of the fifth inning to complete the series-opening twinbill sweep with an 8-0 triumph in the nightcap.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1	Macy Michael homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning, but the Spartans doubled their lead later in the frame on an ill-timed passed ball with the bases juiced.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1	Laney Deane hit a 1-out RBI double to the gap in left field to give the hosts the lead for good, but Rylie Williams legged out a 2-out RBI single to the shortstop two batters later to up the lead to a pair of runs.
