
Mercer Looks to Continue Winning Ways at Georgia Southern Wednesday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team will aim to stretch to a three-match winning streak when they take on the Eagles of Georgia Southern this Tuesday, Jan. 22. The match will be held at the Wallis Tennis Center in Statesboro, Ga. beginning at 2 p.m.

The Bears went 2-1 at the Florida State Invitational to begin their season, with a 4-3 win over Louisiana and a 4-0 sweep over Florida Atlantic. Mercer is led by Ruben Vanoppen, Nico Guillon, Olivier Stuart and nationally ranked Sam Philp.

Wednesday's match will be Georgia Southern's season opener. The Eagles were a perfect 12-0 at home last season. Georgia Southern finished the 2017 Spring Season with a 19-12 overall record, losing in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Championship to the No. 2 seeded South Alabama.

Following Wednesday's competition, the Bears will next travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Alabama State Sunday, Jan. 28, beginning at 12 p.m.
