Bailey Pattison, Lynn Gardner combine for shutout in 5-0 win
MACON, Ga. – Freshmen pitchers Bailey Pattison and Lynn Gardner tossed a combined seven scoreless innings as Mercer defeated North Carolina A&T, 5-0, in the Black & Orange Challenge finale at Sikes Field on Sunday afternoon.

Pattison (2-4) earned her second win of the weekend as she scattered four hits over four innings pitched while striking out two Aggies. Gardner notched her first save of the season with a three-inning effort in relief. Mercer improved to 6-10 overall while the Aggies dropped to 0-6.

Mercer took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Laurenne Sanchez and Micayla Rood scored on an errant throw after Megan Lane flew out in foul territory. The Bears played small ball the rest of the way, scoring via a pair of bunts by Kenlie Harvey and Catie Josselet as well as a sacrifice fly by Amanda Schwartz.

» Sunday marked Mercer's first shutout win of the season and first since April 18, 2018 (Alabama State).
» Five Bears stole one base on Sunday: Micayla Rood, Megan Lane, Abby Walsh, Kenlie Harvey and Catie Josselet.
