Bailey Pattison tosses six innings in 6-1 loss to UConn
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team suffered a 6-1 defeat to UConn on Sunday afternoon at Sikes Field in the Mercer Bears Classic finale.

Mercer (12-18) trailed by just two runs entering the seventh inning before UConn (10-13) plated three runs to extend its lead. Freshman Bailey Pattison tossed six innings and struck out five Huskies despite taking the loss. Only three of her five runs allowed were earned.

The Bears were held quiet offensively as they picked up their first hit in the third inning on a single by Micayla Rood. Their best offensive threat came in the sixth inning when Allie Jones scored Mercer's lone run of the game. Mercer had the bases loaded after a singles by Abby Walsh and Megan Lane and a walk by Amanda Schwartz, but was unable to plate any further runs.

Lynn Gardner tossed the final inning of the game, allowing one unearned run while striking out one batter.
