Bears open a four-game week by hosting the Rattlers

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team will host Florida A&M in a nonconference mid-week contest at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Sikes Field.

The game will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network.

QUICK HITS

Mercer opened its Southern Conference slate with a series victory over Western Carolina at home last weekend. After falling in the series opener, Mercer rallied with two wins in Saturday's doubleheader.
Danielle Castleberry is the SoCon's leader in hits (40), batting average (.385), on base percentage (.504) and hit by pitch (11).
Not to be outdone, Allie Jones ranks second in the league in hits (39). She is batting .364.
Mercer ranks second in the league with stolen bases per game (1.31) and batting average (.286).
Micayla Rood ranks second in the conference in runs scored (34).
Abby Walsh is third in the SoCon with her three triples this season.
Bailey Pattison leads Mercer in the circle with a 3.95 ERA and eight wins. The freshman has seen action in 90.1 innings and has struck out 46 batters.
Fellow freshman Lynn Gardner has recorded seven wins this season and has 95.0 innings pitched. The lefty has struck out 45 batters.

SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will mark the 49th all-time meeting between Mercer and Florida A&M. Mercer leads the series, 27-21, and most recently defeated the Rattlers, 3-0 and 11-3 last season.

SCOUTING FLORIDA A&M
The Rattlers enter the weekend with a 12-21 overall record and are coming off a MEAC series sweep of North Carolina Central last weekend. Florida A&M has also picked up a win over SoCon opponent, Chattanooga. Tyra Bowers leads Florida A&M with 29 hits, 16 runs and 11 RBI. Kyaira Brown leads the circle with eight wins. Brown has struck out 53 batters and has a 3.30 ERA over 121.0 innings pitched.
