Bears return to action on Tuesday at Georgia

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team dropped its second straight match as they were defeated by Georgia State, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon.

Mercer was down a point early as they dropped the third and second doubles matches to lose the doubles point.

The Bears' Olivier Stuart, who is ranked No. 46 in the ITA single rankings, won his fourth straight match. He improves to 7-2 on the season in singles. Stuart won the first set over Quentin Coulaud, 6-1. Couldaud put up a fight in the second set, but Stuart came out on top, 7-6.

Mercer took two matches to three sets on the day. Hugo Lobo, who was playing No. 2 singles, lost his first set. He rebounded for a 6-0 win in set two, before he was defeated in the third. The other three-setter for the Bears was in No. 3 singles with Stathis Tsiranidis. Like Lobo, he lost the first before winning the second set, 6-2. He was defeated in the third set.
