Men’s Tennis Heads to Georgia

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team travels to Athens, Ga., to take on No. 10 Georgia on Friday. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m.

Scouting the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs come into their first match of the season being ranked at No. 10 in the ITA Team rankings. They are the second-highest ranked SEC team in the first team ranking of the season. Besides being ranked in the team poll, Georgia has three singles players and two doubles teams in the top 75 of the ITA rankings.

In singles action Trent Bryde (No. 9), Philip Henning (No. 18) and Tyler Zink (No. 73) are all ranked for the Bulldogs. During the 2019-20 season, Bryde went 9-1 in dual matches. His nine wins were the most on the team and he won his last seven matches. Henning was 7-2 on the season, winning five of those matches playing No. 2 singles. Zink went 5-3 on the season with a perfect 2-0 mark playing No. 2.

In doubles, Bryde and Zink team up and are currently ranked 8th in the nation by the ITA. Last season they went 8-2 in duals as Georgia's top doubles team. Blake Croyder and Henning finished last season 9-1 playing as the second doubles team. Croyder and Henning are ranked No. 20 in the ITA doubles teams.

The men's team returns to action on Jan. 31 when they return home to face Troy. First serve is set for 1 p.m. from the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
