Men’s Tennis Hosts Troy Tuesday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team welcomes the Troy Trojans to the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center this Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. The Trojans come in with a 7-1 record.

Scouting the Trojans
The Trojans enter the matchup with the Bears winners of seven of its first eight matches . Troy's lone loss came against North Florida. The Trojans are 2-1 on the road this year and 5-0 at home.

Troy's top tennis player is Pelayo Antuna who is 5-2 playing No. 1 singles and is on a five- match winning streak. Carles Anton is 6-0 this spring with four wins in No. 2 singles and a win each in No. 1 and No. 3 singles. As a team in duals, the Trojans are winning 81.2 percent (39-for-48) of their matches.

Doubles has seen the Trojans win 68.2 percent (15-for-23) of their matches this spring. The team of Christopher Tasker and Nicolas Simkin has played two matches as the No. 1 doubles team and are 2-0. Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton are 5-0 when playing No. 2 doubles.

The Bears return to action this weekend when they host Georgia College at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Presbyterian on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both matches are at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center on the campus of Mercer University.
