Mercer returns to action on Saturday
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team was defeated by Troy, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
In doubles, Mercer dropped No. 1 doubles and needed to take the next two to earn a point. Samuel Barrow and Michael Durham won No. 3 doubles, 6-3. The doubles point came down to No. 2 doubles were the Bears where defeated 6-4.
In singles, Hugo Lobo and Carver Arant battled against the Trojans. Lobo, playing No. 1 singles, dropped set one, 6-3. He bounced back to win set two, 6-2, to force a tiebreaker. However, Lobo dropped the tiebreak and match to Pelayo Antuna.
In No. 3 singles, Arant battled and like Lobo, Arant dropped set one. He answered the call and took a hard-fought battle in set two, 7-6. Again, Mercer could not win the tiebreaker and the Trojans came away with the win.
