Men’s Tennis Opens Home Schedule Sunday

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team looks for its second straight win on Sunday when the Bears play at home against Georgia State.

Scouting the Panthers
The Panthers came into the match after dropping their second match of the season on Friday to Liberty, 6-1. Georgia State is coming off back-to-back Sun Belt Tournament Championship appearances. They have not lost to Mercer since 1996.

The Panthers' doubles team of Roberts Grinvalds/Andrei Duarte comes in ranked No. 30 in the ITA double rankings. In a battle with Charlotte to start the season, Grinvalds/Duarte teamed up for a victory over the No. 39 ranked duo.

Vazha Shubladze returns for the Panthers this season. He climbed as high as No. 104 in last season's Oracle/ITA singles rankings. He comes in with a 1-1 on the season with a win over Charlotte and a loss to Nicaise Muamba of Liberty on Friday.

NEXT UP
The men's team returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Kennesaw to face Kennesaw State. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
