Mercer takes on Wofford and Clemson this weekend
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears men's tennis team heads to the Palmetto State this weekend for two matches. Mercer opens Southern Conference play on Saturday at 12 p.m. against Wofford before closing out the weekend against Clemson on Sunday.

Scouting the Terriers
The Terriers of Wofford College enter the match with the Bears as winners of their last three matches and hold a record of 4-3 overall and 1-0 in Southern Conference play. The Terriers defeated The Citadel, 7-0, to open conference play on Feb. 27.

Playing No. 1 singles for the Terriers is Omar Williams who is 4-3 in the position. He is currently on a three match winning streak. Callum Rendle is playing No. 2 singles and is 3-1. Like Williams, Rendle is on a three match winning streak. As a team, Wofford is 21-21 on the season in singles action.

In doubles play, Wofford is winning 61.9 percent (13-of-21) matches this season. Leading the way is Bryce Keim and Williams. They are the top doubles team for Wofford and are 5-2. After dropping their first two doubles matches of the season, they now have own five straight. Will Fullett and Ashe Ray are also winners of their last five doubles matches, as they play as a team in No. 3 doubles.

The Tigers of Clemson University enter the weekend with a record of 5-6 and 1-3 in the ACC. They will play two matches this weekend at The Duckworth Family Tennis Center as they host Georgia Tech in a conference match on Friday before taking on the Bears on Sunday. Mercer will be the fourth SoCon school Clemson has played this season.

This season, Clemson has played two players at the No. 1 singles position. Yizhou Liu and Teodor Giusca. Lui went 1-7 in the No. 1 position well Giusca is 3-0. Ryuhei Azuma has the most wins this season for the Tigers winning eight of his 11 matches. Azuma has wins in No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 singles.

The Tigers have used 10 different doubles combinations this season. Azuma and Jacob Jahn lead the team with five wins, all in the No. 1 doubles position. Liu and Giusca also have played No. 1 doubles and tallied two wins. Guisca and Spencer Whitaker have four wins the second most on the team.
